A series of severe problems derived from urbanization has triggered a contentious debate, such as traffic congestion and housing problems. It is claimed that removal of large companies and staff can solve the problem. However, I do not concur with this view because this is not a sustainable method to mitigate or even tackle urban problems. Instead, narrowing the gap between city and countryside and reduction in urban population are the better one to curing city sickness.

Granted, this policy of moving factories and employees to countryside can alleviate urban problems in a short period. Increasing land resources can be used for apartment buildings and public road system, which in a short time relieves of heavy traffic jams and lowers the price of estate.

However, with time passing by, the problems aforementioned would be severe again. This is because the more numbers of employees moving out of the city, the more new immigrants swarming into the city. Cosmopolitan cities provide high-qualified living facilities and more job opportunities in service industry, which attracts more young generation from rural areas. Therefore, the burgeoning population in cities gives rise to a variety of problems and traffic and housing problems cannot be solved thoroughly.

Even worse, this policy cannot prevent workers from living in cities. For those with family and relatives in urban center, they seem not to stay in countryside for too long and are more likely to return to cities rather than stay in countryside.

In contrast, the wide disparity between the two areas is the chief reason for the problem. So, it is suggested that more investments should be offered in countryside living facilities and living environment in order to balance the living quality.
